The wedding was a blast! John and I left around 10:00 am on Saturday the 31st and arrived around 11:30ish. The Bride and some of her family had just gotten back to her parents house from setting up the decorations at the pavilion. We all just hung out at her parents house for a bit while the bride and all her bridesmaids got there hair and makeup done. John and I had left so early so we could arrived ahead of time and I could get shots of the bride and her bridesmaids while they got ready. However, the ceremony did not start until 2:00 pm.
Around 1:00 we all left to drive over to the pavilion. Once it was almost 2:00 the groom showed up and we all hung out and then his groomsmen put a tshirt over his head and took him to the back so he wouldn't see the bride arrive. It had pored rain the night before and sprinkled rain earlier that morning so the ground was pretty soggy. Thus, they moved the ceremony under the pavilion. It was originally supposed to be in the grass. The reception was also at the pavilion directly after the ceremony.
Although the wedding wasn't traditional like you usually see it was still great fun. There was some music playing in the background but there was no dancing and no first dance. Everyone mostly just hung out and talked the whole time. The bridesmaids walked down the isle alone, the groomsmen were already up front.
A bunch of people I work with were there and we all had a nice time. The bride and groom are huge star wars fans so they had a remote control R2D2 at the wedding that the brides dad had built for her when she was younger. Later on they even had Darth Vader and some of his crew invade the wedding. It was a surprise, the bride set it up for the groom. He didn't know anything about it at all, it was hilarious! They came in with a mug shot of the groom and invaded the wedding asking everyone where the groom was. Then they put him in shackles and they gave the bride a plastic gun. It was great!
Later on we all left for the hotel. We stayed at the Marriott and they had three rooms reserved for all the people staying over. However, the air conditioning broke in one of the suits reserved for us. The hotel said they had no more open rooms for us so we ended up only having two rooms. It was mostly all the people from my work that stayed over in the hotel. There ended up being quite a bit of the bride and grooms other friends that ended up staying over night anyways. The room John and I ended up sleeping in was packed! There was John and I on the only one bed there was in the room. Later in the night another random from guy from the wedding ended up sleeping in the bed with John and I since it was such a big bed. Another guy slept on the chair, two guys crashed on the floor and two other people slept on the single fold out bed. There was like eight people who slept in this room that is technically only meant for two people. It worked out though, most everyone didn't end up going to sleep until like 3:00 am anyways. At midnight everyone was just heading for the pool, I guess the pool never closes? We were all at the pool until almost 1:00 am. I ended up falling asleep but alot of other people stayed up in our room playing video games all night.
It was fun and pretty and crazy and insane, so many words to describe it but I'm glad they asked me to be the photographer. It was nice to take a mini trip and have a change of scenery.
