Towed in Chicago

So I'm enrolled in a class called photographic studio this quarter. Right now we're working on this big project with the fashion students. They are working on fashion catalogs and we're shooting the pictures they need for there catalogs. While they provide the models, clothes and fashion aspect of it we are scouting out locations, posing the models and figuring out the best lighting. When it comes down to it the fashion students will be getting a final grade on there catalogs and us photography students will be getting graded on a few prints from the photo shoots. So far this project has been very stressful because its insane trying to get about ten people together to meet somewhere for a photo shoot with models all at the same time. We all have lives, work and school and we're very busy people. Today worked out well though because half of the fashion group and our group were able to meet for a photo shoot. My group consists of two other girls, Krystal and Jasmine and one guy Ram. He went and scouted out locations to shoot in Chicago so we ended up planning to meet down there by 10:00 pm.
Its so late but it was the only time we could get everyone together. Ram and one of the girls in my group Krystal were already going to be down in Chicago at the location ahead of time. I didn't want to drive by myself and I was nervous about the directions so I carpooled with the other girl in my group Jasmine. Turns out the fashion student and her models that were meeting us didn't know where they were going either. So us five girls ended up carpooling together. We made it to the location but we were an hour late. We just wanted to get the shots we needed and get this done while we could. We did our shooting and finished around 1:00 am. The other girl from our group Krystal that was there ahead of time had to leave early so she was long gone. But Ram from my group walked all us girls back to where her car was supposed to be and it wasn't there. Apparently none of us saw the 15 minute parking only with hazard lights on sign. The city had towed her car but luckily we had Ram there with us who had his car. It took us about a half an hour to get a hold of somebody from the city to find out where to pick up her car. When we finally got a hold of somebody they told us where the pound was that had her car and that it was going to cost $160 cash to get her car out. Ram's car only seats five and there was six of us so we had to squeeze in his small car driving around for almost an hour trying to find this pound. On top of that we all had to dig up $160 to get her car out. After about an hour of driving around we finally got to the pound and got her car out and by the time we got back to her apartment it was almost 3:00 am. Jasmine and I then still had to drive back to school where my car was parked and then I was able to drive home and now its 4:00 am and I'm just eating dinner. I have to be up for work by 9:00 am. Wish me luck at work tomorrow.

Happy Easter!

Today was a simple day, we didn't do anything to special really. We had Aunt Laurel and Uncle Larry over for a nice Easter dinner though. We ate early at about 2:30 in the afternoon because Kristi had to leave for work by 3:00 pm.
Everything was very delicious and I was glad I didn't miss out. Usually I miss out on the food because I have to work but not this time. We had lamb, potato's, jello, rolls ect. The perfect Easter meal!
I didn't have to be at work until 6:00 pm today so I was able to enjoy my entire Easter until 5:30 when I had to leave. I was preparing myself for the worst at work but it turned out to be alright. It wasn't to busy like I thought it might be.
Sadly this year we were so busy that we didn't even color Easter eggs. Usually we do every year even if its last minute. This year we didn't color Easter eggs, we didn't do an Easter egg hunt or anything. Its almost sad and I feel like I'm breaking the Easter code by not doing these traditional Easter things.
I hope everybody else made enough eggs and went on enough Easter egg hunts to make up for my un Easter self.

Happy Easter to all!

21

Yesterday I had a twenty first birthday party gig. My wonderful friend Danielle hired me to be the photographer for her roommate Ciara's twenty first birthday party. I'm also pretty good friends with Ciara so I was glad to do this for her. They paid me $120 dollars to be there for the party taking pictures.
Ciara and Danielle both go to University of Illinois Urbana Champagne but Ciara had her party back home in Roselle so it was very close for me. She lives about two blocks from my house so getting there was easy.
The $120 was the easiest money I've ever made to be honest. Some of my good friends were at the party, I saw old friends from girls scouts that I haven't seen in forever, I took lots of great pictures, the food was awesome and we all partied hard with good music until 2:30 in the morning. What could be better than that!
I arrived at Ciara's house at 2:00 pm on the dot which was when the party was supposed to start. Nobody was there yet at that time and Ciara was only just starting to get ready for the party. I ended up staying at the party until 2:30 in the morning with all the rest of Ciara's friends. We were the die hard partyers, we danced the night away and they all drank and drank and drank some more while I snapped pictures left and right. At 2:30 the party was basically over. All the partyers were sleeping over Ciara's house.
I had an awesome time at the party and I couldn't be happier for Ciara, she is finally an adult. I hope she had a great birthday party and I thank her for letting me be the photographer.

Rest In Peace

Today was one of the saddest days in my entire life. We had to put Cosmo down this morning. Cosmo went to the bathroom three times inside the house just this morning. He couldn't control himself anymore and he didn't know what he was doing anymore. My dad said it was his time so he woke Kristi up at 10am so she could come along to help because I had to go to school. I was balling all morning and I couldn't even control myself but its so hard because Cosmo has been with us for so long.
My dad was terribly sad almost to the point of crying and he said we were just going to drop Cosmo off at the vet and say goodbye. One of my dads old cats Bridget ran away and was never seen again and the other one Barney had to be put down and my dad didn't want to do this again. My sister was extremely sad and said she wanted to stay with Cosmo but my dad didn't think she could handle it.
Today has been a sad dreary day, I could barley control myself at school. I just wanted to burst out crying because I was so upset about Cosmo. I don't want to get another dog because I never want to replace Cosmo.
We picked Cosmo out from Mrs Noah's Pet store on June 3, 1995 in Roselle near the Library. That pet store isnt even there anymore, its been gone for a long time. Kristi would have been around two and half years old then and I would have been around seven years old. Cosmo had such cute brown ears and lots of brown spots on his face and all over his fur back then as a puppy. He was the cutest dog in the whole wide world! Cosmo would have been 16 this June 3rd.
Towards the end of his time he started going to the bathroom in the house every day multiple times a day. He constantly wanted to go outside and then he would come back inside and go to the bathroom on the floor. I know it gets annoying dealing with that everyday but I don't care how much he went on the floor I still loved him very much.

Blanket Delivery!

That's right, my mother finally finished two identical blankets for baby's Lillian and Gwyneth. We went over to visit the twins at Owen and Donna's today and we dropped off the blankets. Instead of the usual granny squares that my mom does she did a different style blanket this time. It looks stunning, I really love it! Now that she has all this free time she's going to start on my blanket. I want a blanket just like the ones she made for Lillian and Gwyneth but I want mine to contain bright flashy colors.
On each blanket she made for the twins she stitched in there initials in the corner so they'll always know which blanket is which. This time we were actually able to tell the two baby's apart because they were wearing separate outfits.

Pink Eye

Yesterday night Kristi came to my mother saying she had an abnormal amount of eye buggers. She was pretty sure she had pink eye right away, that's the only explanation. Nobody has given us a for sure yes that she does have pink eye but its kind of obvious she does. She's not sure where she could of gotten it from but it is highly contagious. Now that Kristi has pink eye my family is kind of going neat freak for the time being. We want to keep everything clean and make sure we're not using the same towels or hygiene stuff as she is. We're all trying to wash are hands alot and we're trying to stay away from Kristi is basically what it comes down to. Better safe than sorry, am I right?
Today she woke up and her eye was completely swollen shut with gunk. She had to clean it out and even after doing that she could still only open her eye half way. My dad is taking her to the doctor today to see what we can do about this.
Kristi wouldn't let me take a picture of her so you'll just have to imagine her with one eye swollen and very pink. In the words of my sister, "Comere... I'll give you pink eye and you can take a picture of yourself".

Back Again

Today I started back to school already and I am definitely not prepared at all. My Business of Photography class which was suppose to be a morning class got changed so one of its days is a night class and the other is a morning. I was notified of this through email that it had been changed while I was on break. I was very confused about my online schedule after the change. I was confused what days that class was supposed to be on and what the times were. Everything was really messed up on my online schedule. It showed I didn't have class until 6:00 pm on Mondays but just to be sure I woke up at 8:00 am this morning so I could make it to school and get my offical schedule just to make sure I didn't have that class in the morning. Sure enough on my final complete paper copy of my schedule it shows I don't have class until 6:00 pm on Mondays so I woke up early for nothing and drove to school only to pick up my schedule and go home. Now I just wait until 5:30 so I can drive back to school for my class at 6:00-9:50 pm. Better safe than sorry I guess, missing the first day would of been a real pain.
My Monday class is apparently called a split class which I've never had before but that's what the lady called it. It meets on Monday's and Saturday's. Odd, right? I'm so mad that I have to go on Saturdays but there was nothing else I could do. Its only from 9:00 am- 10:50 am so I think I can survive. My school has a very strict class availability, only certain classes are offered during certain quarters at certain times. You never have alot of choices, you basically don't get to choose anything at all. Its all done for you and your booted out the door as quickly as possible. That's one thing I absolutely hate about the scheduling at my school but theres not much I can do about it. I usually let my counsler know that mornings is what I want and would be better for me and I get what I get is basically what it comes down to.
Anyways, my other two classes fall on Tuesday and Thursday and the times are even perfect for once. One starts at noon so I dont even have to wake up early! That class ends at 1:50 and the other will start at 3:00 pm and go until 5:50. Overall I'm happy with my schedule, its not to bad. I think I'll survive and I even have Wednesdays and Fridays off which will be nice for a break in the week.

Girls just wanna have fun

Our night at the Rodeway in turned out to be amazing after all. I do admit the place was a little run down but it was nothing like the reviews I read. The window in the room made it feel like we were in jail, the mattresses didn't have mattress covers but only one sheet covering them and the room was very tiny with everything packed together. I don't really have any other complaints though because the man was very friendly and unlike most of the reviews I read the room was actually very clean. The room not being clean was one of our main concerns.
We had a little bathroom and sink area, a closet, TV, two beds and even a refrigerator and a microwave. Chandra and I were a little worried before hand but when we got to the room we were relived because it wasn't as bad as we were expecting.
After decorating the room we went and picked up our friend Ceila who thought the surprise was that we were all going out to dinner. We drove halfway to the hotel and then we made her put on a blind fold and we had to guide her into the hotel. When we got to the door she took of her blind fold and saw a bow on the door. She walked inside to a decorated room and was kind of confused. "Surprise, we're staying over night! We planned the whole thing with your family and your sister even packed your bag for you". She was very surprised and we all had a great time that night.
For dinner we went to Cheeseburger in Paradise and they even sang to her there.
Overall it was a fun night but I don't think I'll ever be staying at the Rodeway in again. Next time we'll pay the little extra money and stay somewhere good for another girls night and we'll make sure to read the reviews before we book the room.

Rodeway Inn

So my friend Chandra and I planned a surprise hotel party girls night for our good friend Ceila. Today on April fools is her 22nd birthday so we've planned it for tonight. We're going to surprise her and take her to the hotel tonight but she thinks the surprise is that her sister invited Chandra and I out to dinner with her and her family. She has no idea about the hotel party we've planned.
Now Chandra and I booked the hotel room through Expedia a while back and it seemed great. We looked at pictures of the room, it has a pool and it even showed that it has a free continental breakfast in the morning. This hotel is right in Glen Ellyn so its even close to home as well. We've been really excited about this for a while now and we've been secretly planning all the details with her sister.
Today is the day we're supposed to be going to this hotel and Chandra and I looked up reviews of this place on a few different websites and they are not good at all. What we thought was going to an amazing night of fun things and staying over in a hotel room might turn out to be not what we expected at all. We cant judge until we actually get there and see for ourselfs but what people are saying about this place isnt good. Chandra and I are going to the hotel ahead of time to decorate it before we pick up Ceila so we'll find out then.

A few of reviews I found online:

"Horrible, Worst Hotel Ever!... bad service, no elevators, people made me feel unsafe. The room was terribly dirty and the staff was unfriendly"

"BED BUGS!!!!!!!... ABSOLUTLEY NASTY!! The hotel has a disgusting smell that actually gave me a headache"

"Do not stay here... this was the worst hotel I have ever been to. The hallway smelled like mold and smoke. The room was dirty and had roaches"

"What a Dump!!!! This was the dirtist, nastiest hotel I have ever been to. I highly recommend that you do not go here. Staying on the street would be cleaner...and the smell, the worst!!!"

Chandra and I dont want to jump to conclusions but we might end up staying at one of our houses or anywhere else. Will see how things go when we get there.
